HOW ABOUT SOME Fun Facts
Switzerland allows its citizens to propose initiatives to create new laws, challenge existing laws, and vote on costitutional amendments.
Some Swiss Cantons practiced direct democratic governance in local assemblies, where citizens would gather and vote on laws and policies.
Colonial New England (17th to 18th century), especially in Massachusetts and Connecticut, some towns used town meetings for direct democrative governance.
Ancient Athens (5th to 4th century BCE), citizens participated directly in the Ecclesia, the main governing assembly, proposing, debating and voting on laws.
